Saint Pius X Immersion Religious Education Program (S.P.I.R.E.)

Student Immersion - June 21-25, 2021

8:50 am - 2:50 pm

Masks/Face Coverings: All students and staff will be required to wear a mask/face covering for the duration of each day, except for when eating.

Arrival & Dismissal: All students and staff will have their temperatures taken before entering the school building each morning. Students will enter the school building through designated doors and report directly to their classrooms. Student will not be permitted to arrive before 8:30 am. Students will be dismissed from the building; no parents/guardians will be permitted in the school.

Student Cohorts: Students will be grouped together in a cohort (class) and will remain with their cohort during the week. Each cohort will be led by a teacher and have their own designated classroom. Students will be able to keep materials in their classrooms during the week.

Attendance: Students are required to attend all five days of the student immersion in-person. Currently, there is no plan to offer live remote learning during the student immersion week. In the event of illness or exposure to Covid-19 make-up sessions may be scheduled.

Food and Drink: Students are required to bring their own snack and lunch each day during the student immersion. Student will eat in their classrooms each day.

Recess and Lunch: Students will be given a morning recess break for snack and restroom use. Morning recess time will be staggered by cohort, and the students will remain in their classrooms. The students will also eat lunch in their classroom and will be given time to play with their cohort in a designated section of the school yard, weather permitting.

Guest Presentations and Communal Liturgies: An important part of the immersion experience is hearing from guest speakers. Some guest speakers will be presented virtually using the technology in the classrooms. Students will also gather in our Church, socially distanced from one another, for the communal celebration of the Sacrament of Penance and Mass.

Ongoing Formation Sessions: The ongoing formation sessions that take place on Sunday mornings during the school will be held on a Sunday during the months of September, October, November, January, February, March and April. While we would hope to be able to gather in-person for these, we may utilize video recorded lessons as scheduling and safety permit. Dates for the ongoing formation sessions will be provided before the student immersion.

Weekly C.C.D. Classes

We remain committed to offering weekly religious education classes, either virtually or in-person.

A decision will be made closer to the start of the school year as to how and when classes will be offered.
